Social Computing

I’ve moved higher into the cloud now.  I’m an IT social computing architect (still at HP).  Basically, that’s for people who have their feet firmly planted in emerging technology and their head in the clouds.

From an architecture standpoint, this is a layered approach.  Different architecuture frameworks must be created for the  socialogical, technological, process and data layers.  I anticipate the most difficult part of the architecture implementation to be with the human layer.  We humans are so complex.  So unwilling to change sometimes.  So ready for change at other times.

I think I’m the “whisper in the ear” when it comes to social, moving the needle a bit at a time.  When I was younger, this was frustrating work.  Now, I’m happy with small movements.  Big changes will come down the line, and when they do, it will be like a landslide.  (It’s raining now.) So far, so good.
